New Brunswick International Sculpture Symposium Inc. was established in 2011. It oversees and guides Sculpture Saint John, a six-week sculpture symposium modelled after the original international Austrian symposium of 1959. Sculpture Saint John is a biennial event that began in 2012 and has brought artists from over 15 countries to Saint John.

Through the symposium, we strive to:

  • Connect communities through affordable public art
  • Educate people and young artists about public art and its creation
  • Create an International Sculpture Trail connecting the selected communities and enhancing their resident and visitor experience

During Sculpture Saint John’s first four symposiums, over 125,000 visitors experienced New Brunswick granite coming to life. We have 30 pieces installed throughout the region and our international sculptors and community have mentored 22 emerging artists and each year, 125 volunteers participate. Over 150 individuals and companies have helped Sculpture Saint John contribute more than $3M to our local economy since 2012.

Given the growth of Sculpture Saint John, as well as key investments that are necessary to ensure Sculpture Saint John’s exciting future, it will be necessary to raise $580,000 in financial and in-kind donations for 2022 programming.

Join us in our mission to bring public art to New Brunswick communities and provide children in our city with free art education.
